I have suffered from back pain for over 25 years, undergoing surgeries and countless "treatments". The Vertical Pool was just installed at my home one week ago and after just 5 light workouts in your pool my pain has been halved. I can perform stretches and exercises I cannot perform on land or in any other pool I have tried. With the overhead bars and using a flotation belt I can raise my body, lift my legs and curl them to my chest - stretching the back muscles and relieving the pressure. This is just one of the many unique exercises I can perform in The Vertical Pool - most of which I cannot do in standard pool configurations. I am confident that my core, back and legs will gain more strength and I will quickly lose the 30 pounds I gained being sedentary. Your design is perfect for me and I believe for most anyone seeking a compact system for exercise and therapy. AN AQUATIC PRESCRIPTION
BY MARCIA CALLAN
AQUATIC SPECIALIST and USA SWIMMING CLUB COACH
FAIRPORT SWIMMING     FAIRPORT, N.Y.
The story begins with an 88 year old WW 2 Marine Veteran, who resides in Augusta, Ga. Her name is Agnes Caviston and served in San Diego when Pearl Harbor hit manning the switch board for Generals. She has lived a full life of giving, raising 4 children and some grandchildren. Agnes is in fragile health and has her health care through the Veterans Administration (VA) and Medicare. Her son is her full time caregiver and has given up his career to care for her. In doing so, they live just above the poverty level. Agnes happens to be my mother and is royalty to me and my family.
After a visit the end of August 2010 and seeing my mother bedridden, medicated and no quality of life, I said to my brother, we need to get her in the water immediately. With our swimming background we had a complete understanding of the physiological and biological effects vertical immersion can have on the body. We made a commitment to get my mother in the water within 30 days, so now we need a pool. The follow through was going to be massive.
The process began by looking online for a soft hot tub to get her started. In the meantime, I was doing follow up calls to help my brother, as he had his hands full with mom’s daily care. One such call was to the Wounded Warrior Division of the Marine Corps. In the conversation, there was a recall of an email that had been received about a therapy prototype pool that was designed for wounded warriors coming back from war. The premise of the pool was to provide privacy, personal rehab and to be home with family ASAP. They didn’t respond because they had no need or formulary for such a device. I asked if she still had the information, and 2 days later she sent it to me. I immediately made a phone call to Peter Hold the innovator and designer of “The Vertical Pool”. After a 45 minute conversation, explaining my mother’s history, the VA, and her current fragile condition, and passion for my mother’s health, he was donating/loaning the pool to my mother. He drove it all the way from Cortez, Co to Augusta, GA and installed it.
After 3 months of Aquatic Therapy, my mother has been taken of BP meds that she has been on for years. When we started the process of bringing mom back to life, she was on 19 different medications (over 30 pills per day) putting her in a bedridden, vegetative intoxicated state. The VA said no to the pool because of a urinary catheter and colostomy as a result of 2 surgeries, her family said yes to the pool and they would design her comeback program. As of 2/7/11, mom is off 4 more meds and 4 more meds reduced by ½ and 1 as needed basis. We continue the long journey that goes day to day. Some days mom is with it and great, other days she seems to be in a far away land that can’t be reached. It isn’t over until it’s over, and she’s making a come back. She will be interviewed on 2/17/11 by General Jan Hicks for the WW 2 Historical Society to reside in the library of congress.

Hey Peter,
Good to hear from you. I've been in the pool almost every day. You were right about getting in and out....Nan has to help me by bending my knee for me to get between the railings. I have had a lot of pain and swelling in my right knee, but as the old saying goes "NO PAIN, NO GAIN". I will work through it. Heat and liniment work wonders. I've had some good (though not too long) workouts, but will be setting up a routine of exercises that will especially target strengthening my legs. I got my "OFFICIAL" weigh-in on a trip to my Dr. this week. Officially, my starting weight is 442.5 pounds. I've put on 15.5 pounds since moving to Louisville. Feel free to put my starting weight on  your website along with any pictures I send to you. I think people will like to see my progress.  I am being extra careful with the pool. It is maintaining the water level really well. We check it daily. The railings and bars seem to handle my weight without any problem. Unfortunately, although I'm so much lighter in the water, getting in I definitely feel all 442.5 pounds! Speaking about the market of your pool for larger folks, I think we will both be surprised at how many folks would love to own one of your pools. As time goes by and they can see the results I have, people will begin to understand what this pool can help them accomplish. It won't happen overnight, but I have dedicated myself to faithfully exercise and have a much more healthy diet. I will be glad to send you pictures and data as I progress toward my goal of being as healthy as I can possibly be.

The Abilities Buzz; Product Spotlight: The Vertical Pool                   A favorite prescription of rehabilitation therapists is to
send their patients to work out in the pool.

For people with mobility issues, the pull of gravity on land can be problematic. In water, where the pull on the body is not as strong, motion and functional activity are more comfortable and far more conducive to the healing process. Because the water supports the body, reduces joint stress and provides both resistance and assistance to movement, this kind of aquatic therapy is ideal for people with disabilities, bariatric patients, seniors, wounded vets and more.
The problem: Where do you go for this life-enhancing therapy? A local pool where you can share your rehabilitation process with everyone in the community? And considering the potential bacteria issues that arise from public water, your therapy may not be all you will be sharing.
The solution: www.theverticalpool.com . It’s private, it’s affordable and it allows for exercise, traction and therapy in vertical, horizontal and seated positions.
This revolutionary therapy tool was created by Peter G. Hold for the wounded warriors coming back from Iran and Afghanistan. "The idea is, you just had a severe trauma," he said. "You don't want to go to the local pool and get indoors and greet half the people in town and get the whole pity thing. People want privacy, exclusivity and convenience."
According to Hold, “The best form of exercise is in a vertical position to align the spine. Everything feels right when you're vertical, that's why we're called Homo Erectus. There are millions of people who can't get vertically erect everyday because they can't support themselves. This pool allows them to." In addition, the vertical alignment is critical to promote healthy organs, improved circulation and superior respiratory function.
The Vertical Pool also offers the following important features:
   -   Rent-able – eliminates the need to buy or build and gets the patient as active as possible quickly.
   -   Sanitary – exclusive to the user, this pool requires minimal chemical use to maintain water quality.
   -   Private – away from public scrutiny, the patient can be with family for the duration of recovery.
   -   Convenient – use more frequently and avoid time consuming transport issues to a public location.
   -   Versatile – vertical, horizontal and seated exercising with support bar and hands-on assistance.
   -   Efficient – compact in size and water volume, this insulated pool is energy-sensible. (110 GFI plug-in)
   -   Temporary – use only as long as necessary and desired, then it’s removed and the site restored.
   -   Modular – comprised of 16 hard plastic, foam-filled parts, this pool can be carried easily through buildings. This pool can be moved when you move. People with bariatric issues will also find superior health and fitness in The Vertical Pool. “A great device for weight loss with the overhead and multi-faceted design, I dropped over 70 pounds in five months,” said Ricky Summers, who began his weight-loss campaign at 412 pounds.
